A marquise is a French noblewoman who ranks above a countess but below a princess or duchess... up near the head of the royal table, in any case! She is expected to make a gala appearance at state dinners and balls, and this floor-length dress in shimmering cream, gold and blue is ideal for all fancy occasions. The deep scoop neckline is trimmed in cream net ruffles sprinkled with gold and outlined with gold braid. The bodice insert is in semi-transparent blue – but a light blue bow trimmed with gold braid keeps the look flirtatious but modest. The elegant elbow-length sleeves are trimmed with frills of net and unusual dove blue lace with a gold pattern. The body of the dress is creamy satin with a floral pattern in shiny gold. The skirt insert is three tiers of gathered opaque blue lace separated by wide net ruffles and outlined on both sides by a ruffle. The choker neckband matches the bow at the front. Our Marquise dress has a long zip fastener at the back, and gold damask ties that form a bow. You will be dancing all night in this dress! PLEASE NOTE: For a period look, wear this dress with a farthingale or petticoat (sold separately).
