The Marquis de Sade was married and did have three children, so maybe one of his grandchildren married into the military in the 1860s. The perfect Navy wife of that period would have loved our Madame de Sade outfit in black, cream and lots of gold braid and buttons. The open jacket has shapely princess seams outlined in two rows of rich gold braid. They end in a short peplum below the waist marked at the front by two decorative pocket flaps. The front is trimmed with gold braid and black lace ruching. In gleaming cream damask, the blouse insert and matching puffy sleeves with black lace edging are attached to the jacket. The vest/jacket fastens with a row of golden buttons and is also loaded with gold braid. An overskirt of plain black falls softly to decorative trim in gold, black and black lace. Below it is a full white skirt with an elasticized waistband, a stripe of cream damask and then a ruffle in black. Madame de Sade wears white gloves. All she needs now is a short crop.
Material: jacket and skirt: 100% polyester
