In the Renaissance, pages had little in common with the bellboys of today. Back then, a young man had to learn the ropes at court before being appointed a page. And once they had made it to page, they could wear good-looking outfits. This Page doublet, breeches and bonnet are made of dark violet velveteen and trimmed with gold braid. Sleeves slashed to show a silky puffed shirt sleeve, white lace cuffs and a ruffled satin collar all shout "elegance." The billowing breeches are trimmed with thin, golden horizontal stripes and the bonnet has a white plume. When you show up in this costume, they won't ask you to carry the luggage.
