The medieval hood - Eris is a mixture of the so called Gugel and a hood. Medieval hoods in general were rather worn by men. From the 14th century onwards, the nobility also took up this fashion and had their hoods richly decorated. In the transition to the Late Middle Ages, alternative forms of wearing developed such as the Chaperon and for ladies the bonnet, as well as pointed caps and decorated collars to protect the female Dekolletés.

The bonnet-like lapels and the smaller fit characterize Eris as a hood for women. The pure white version is well suited to be dyed in any colour.
