Madame Pompadour was the mistress-in-chief of King Louis XV for almost 20 years. Toward the end of her life (d. 1764), the ladies at court began to wear tall – no, towering – wigs to attract attention. It became a competition to see who could invent the most extreme hairstyle. The French Revolution (1789-1799) quickly put a stop to this nonsense!
Our white Madam Pompadour wig is curly and has a single, fat ringlet on both sides of the neck. Strings of pearly beads decorate the front. Elastic bands form a cage on the inside to give this tall wig a comfortable, secure fit. This wig towers approx. 12 cm above the top of your head.
