Brutus is another name for Bluto, Popeye's rival for the affections of Olive Oyl. He is not good at expressing his affection in words, so he usually ends up relying on deeds. Brutus often picks Olive up and takes her away, trying as hard as he can to keep Popeye away from her. Brutus is strong: you can see that by his massive neck. But sometimes the stress and strain of carrying Olive away and fighting with Popeye is too much for him, which is why he is gritting his teeth and has such a red nose ears. Brutus is bald but has a curly, black tonsur haircut and a beard and moustache of synthetic hair – a sure sign of masculinity!
