Cuba in the 1950s. The sound of scraping guiros and shuffling feet was sweeping the country. Enrique JorrÃn had started composing cha cha cha at the beginning of the decade, and it set off an international dance craze. To dance to this sultry, syncopated music on a hot Cuban night, girls wore long pencil skirts with slit fronts and rows of colorful ruffles, and cropped tops with matching ruffles on the sleeves. Our cha cha cha outfit is based on black knit velvet. The ruffles on the skirt and sleeves are rows of red, orange, and yellow satin edged with flashy gold. The skirt is slit to the right thigh at the front and has an elasticized waistband and a back zipper. The black velvet top edged in gold fastens at the front with a hook and loop strip located beneath the cockade in gold with ruffles. The sleeves are black satin covered with tiers of deep ruffles to match the skirt. A matching cockade with colorful feathers is attached to the red satin head band. Two three cha cha cha!
PLEASE NOTE: The feathers on the head band may differ from the ones shown.
