In European hotels, commissionaires are the hotel employees who pick up guests and make sure their luggage reaches the hotel safely. In Britain, a commissionaire is a doorman. Wouldn't you love to stay at a hotel where the doorman looks like this? The trim, waist-length jacket in heavyweight, black twill he is wearing is very impressive. A double row of seven golden buttons defines the front, but four more buttons fasten the jacket in the middle. A black, shield-shaped bib buttons on to show some of the red lining that picks up the accents of red at the sleeve ends, the shoulders and the stand-up collar. The collar and bib are trimmed with gold & black braid, and the sleeves and epaulets are edged in gold.
