In the 15th century, "Baron" was an elegant term for a free man, a landowner. Now it is a title of nobility, and barons dress appropriately. This 18th century Baron is wearing a sumptuous floral coat with red and golden trim and contrasting solid bronze-colored cuffs and collar. The coat's sleeves end in broad cuffs but the delicate lace sleeves of the white, silken shirt are long enough to luxuriously spill out of them. The jabot is also made of lace. Graceful ribbons keep the silken, bronze-colored breeches closed at the knees. The king will be proud to have this nobleman at his court!
