Product Description

The Tudors were busy merchants who traded goods by ship all over the world. Tudor England's main product was woolen broadcloth, so you would expect a merchant of the day to be well dressed. The sleeveless robe is made of gray green damask in an elegant arabesque pattern lined with wine red satin and trimmed with black fur and gold braid at the collar and front opening. The tunic in warm brown velvet has stripes of green and gold damask trimmed with heavy gold braid at the chest and hem, and along the sleeves. The same damask is used for the very deep cuffs Cut to have the square Tudor men's look made popular by King Henry VIII, the tunic also features a large, filigree bronze brooch (diameter approx. 8 cm) set with a turquoise stone and small blue and clear rhinestones at the center of the chest. It ties at the nape of the neck. The simple trousers in matching velvet have a comfortable elastic waistband and are cut to fit into the black imitation leather boot tops with bronze buttons and cuffs with lacing. The beret is made of the same damask as the robe, and has a bright green plume to attract attention. The typical somber extravagance of a Tudor merchant!
