If you like watching bold swashbucklers on the silver screen or reading stories about them, then surely you've seen or read "The Three Musketeers," written by Alexandre Dumas. D'Artagnan and his comrades Aramis, Athos and Porthos stand for courage, justice and perfect fencing skills – pure action and adventure. Porthos is based on a real person and Dumas turned him into a loyal comrade-in-arms. He is as strong as an ox and may be impulsive or rough sometimes, but his heart is in the right place.
Our Porthos costume features a jerkin/shirt combination. The thigh-length jerkin section is made of heavyweight, dark brown imitation suede with shoulder wings and a collar in contrasting metallic copper. Trimmed with a wide band of white lace, which repeats on the front, the collar frames a deep V-neckline. The elegant, wide sleeves with deep cuffs are made of stripes of lightweight fabric in copper, dark brown and white, and decorated with a three copper-colored buttons on each side. As elegant as a member of the Royal Guard could wish, but designed to provide lots of freedom of movement. The breeches are made of shiny dark brown fabric with stripes of copper. The waistband and cuffs are elasticized. Musketeer Porthos also wears a lightweight, dark brown cape with a collar and a drawstring at the throat, a hat with a broad, sweeping brim and a buckle and orange plume, and dark brown imitation suede boot tops with cuffs. All for one!
