To those who are NOT Stephen King fans, Rose Red is a fairy tale character. She and her sister live in a cottage with their poor mother. They take care of a bear for a whole winter, and during the summer the bear kills a wicked dwarf and turns back into a prince. He marries Snow White and his brother marries Rose Red, who is the more outgoing and lively of the two girls. As befits a princess of old, our Rose Red dress is floor length and made of apricot damask and rose red velvet. The Medici collar that plunges to the waist is faced with golden fabric and stiffened to stay high in the back. Red velvet creates an attractive bodice and French gigot sleeves, which are stiffened to keep their puff. The red velvet sash is attached to the waist but ties at the back. Alternating gores of damask and velvet are gathered into the waist seam to create the skirt. The panels, the collar, the rounded neckline, and the sleeve ends are outlined in gold trim or strips of iridescent sequins. A crinoline made of thick interfacing gives the skirt volume. You can thread the plastic hoops into casings at the hips and the bottom for an authentic look. The adjustable crown is made of lightweight, molded plastic decorated with colorful plastic jewels to match the brooch attached below the neckline. An outfit fit for a princess!
