In the 14th to the 18th centuries, most Christians in Europe feared the power of witchcraft and the (typically) females who used it to harm others. They did all they could to hunt down and exterminate witches and their methods included torture, burning, and drowning. In southwestern Germany, the witch craze reached its peak at the beginning of the 17th century. The shoes of that era were typically made of leather, and had small heels. Our graceful Witch Shoes represent the history of the witch craze. They have the extremely pointed toes of the 14th century, the heels of the 17th century, and the buckle of the 18th century. An extra special feature: a side zipper of the 20th century! Heel height: approx. 6 cm.
