There are two types of Darth Vader helmets that are licensed by Lucasfilm: firstly, the inexpensive variety made of some type of plastic that you can wear with your Halloween or carnival disguise. Secondly, there is the Darth Vader helmet made of fiberglass. They are much more expensive because they require a much more complicated manufacturing process and they are closer to the original movie prop, which was also made of fiberglass.

Our Star Wars Darth Vader helmet is as close to the original as you can get – it was even cast from the same mold as the helmet that appears in "The Empire Strikes Back."

We'd like to use this opportunity to mention that none of the helmets that Darth Vader wore in the four Star Wars movies resembled the others. The version from episode III was digitally generated to be perfectly symmetrical and completely black. The originals from the classic episodes are anything but that: they were handcrafted. The result is asymmetrical shapes and shading in the facial area that consists of two different shades of black. This had the effect of making Darth Vader seem even more threatening than normal in the movies! In Episode IV, he wore a slightly modified nose shape, and in V the helmet we feature here. In the "Return of the Jedi Knights" episode, he wore a helmet that finally allowed him to show his son, Luke Skywalker, his face.

Even if this original Star Wars Darth Vader deluxe helmet was primarily designed to be a high quality collector's item, you can also wear it. The face mask and the helmet scull attach to each other with hook and loop strips, and two adjustable straps keep it securely on your head. The eye sections function like mirrored sunglasses so that you can see out but they can't see in.

This Darth Vader helmet is also a limited edition: only 5,000 pieces were produced worldwide. It comes with an exclusive helmet stand on a black base, to which a numbered plaque is attached. A certificate of authenticity is also included.
