Early on, humans burnt their dead, but after Christianity became widely accepted in the 2nd century AD the dead were usually buried below the ground. Over the centuries, a variety of factors made it important to keep corpses away from cities. And the dead were deposited in orderly niches along the roads that led to the countryside – left to rest until only their bones remained. In addition to the black & gold-painted skulls, bronze-colored bands give the hard Hellmet shell the look of an early spangenhelm. Inside, foam padding makes it very comfortable to wear. This novelty helmet consists of a shell covered in imitation leather. It has an adjustable chin strap that closes with a quick-connect buckle.
Our Catacombs Hellmet is for fun only – not certified for use in traffic. All Hellmets are one size fits all (up to head circumferences of approx. 61 cm).
