Sissi was an Austrian empress who lived during the late 19th century. She was young and beautiful when she married the emperor, but had an unhappy life. Sissi is surely the prototype for Disney's Cinderella character. She is legendary for her incomparable charisma, supported by a strict beauty regimen and gorgeous outfits. Like our splendid Sissi ball gown in pale blue satin, blue & gold damask, and iridescent beads. This floor-length dress is in the style of 1865: a elasticized neckline that shows lots of shoulder and decollete, a narrow waist that balloons out into a very full skirt. The puff sleeves, front insert and puffed overskirt are made of damask. The sleeves are trimmed with beading, and the overskirt is supported by two layers of stiff tulle. At the back, a blue stretch panel with a long zipper makes the dress as comfortable as it is breathtaking!
Speaking of support and volume: the dress comes with a hoop skirt, which is a lightweight satin skirt with two deep tulle ruffle, has a casing for the hoop at the bottom. It has a drawstring waistband that adjusts to fit comfortably. Our dress fit for an empress also comes with a tiara: a head band with a heart in glittering gold sequins topped off by crystal beads. The choker is a simple black satin ribbon decorated with a pearl-colored bead and a teardrop-shaped rhinestone. The elbow-length white gloves are made of stretchy (modern) knit. Unconventional Sissi would have approved!
